

Brett Staniforth
After many years of military service in the Royal Engineers as a Physical Training Instructor, Brett represented the army in rugby and swimming in between tours of duty to Kenya and Bosnia. Brett now has over 11 years experience in getting people fit and has worked for BMF since 2001. Now managing director of British Military Fitness Manchester, training hundreds of adults, children and corporate staff across Greater Manchester, Brett completed the Premier Diploma in personal training, fitness and sports therapy and the New Entrepreneur Scholarship, upon retiring from the army. Brett recently trained ‘Doris’ on The New Paul O’Grady Show (2006) to complete a half marathon and is now training her in parks to complete a full marathon! Brett is also currently filming a BBC series training families to get fit together and trained families for Britain’s Toughest Family (2004).
Emily Staniforth
Emily is currently serving with the TA Royal Engineers. She is office based and looks after the members at the parks in Manchester in her role as Business Development Manager and she is constantly looking for new ways to promote the classes. Representing GB U20’s at High Jump and competing in the Athletics European Cup for Sale Harriers, Emily now maintains her military fitness at the classes at Bolton and Manchester. Despite her recent acceptance into the Army -Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, we are grateful that she has chosen to work instead for BMF Manchester where she can be reached on 01204 882596.
Jamie Bloor
We are pleased to announce that Jamie is coming on board full time at British Military Fitness Manchester in July and will be looking after you at both Bruntwood Park and Sale Water Park. After leaving the Royal Marines, Jamie is now one of the leading mixed martial arts instructors in the country and will be delivering self-defence courses through BMF over the summer.
Lee Bourne
Now a serving fireman, once a Para Squadron Signaller! Lee was quickly promoted to Greenfield Lead Instructor after joining us due to his unbeatable enthusiasm, great classes and attention to detail! With both military and civilian physical training qualifications, Lee has completed over 40 parachute jumps while serving in HM Forces.
Simon Cass
A serving soldier in the PT Corps, Simon is dedicated to getting people fit. Mountain leader trained, Simon takes super classes in Bolton and Heaton Park up and down hills and round park benches! Get those knees up!
Jamie Cooke
Another friendly face, fresh out of the army. Following his recent return from Afghanistan, Jamie is taking on the Lead Instructor Role at Bolton. Using his skills acquired in the Army Air Corps, Jamie will take your fitness to new heights and expand your horizons!
Phil Daly
Following Phil’s retirement from the Royal Marines, he completed the Premier Diploma and takes classes in Chadderton and Platt Fields in between regular holidays to the States.
Mark Dixon
A former White Helmet, Mark was a Signaller for HM Forces who was a member of the army’s display motorcycle team. Young, sparky and energetic, Mark takes classes across North Manchester.
Dave Foster
Welcome back to Dave taking British Military Fitness classes across North Manchester. Dave served in the Queens Royal Lancashire regiment in the army. Dave is very keen on fitness and helping you get fit at Heaton Park, Chadderton Hall Park and Churchill Playing Fields in Greenfield.
Rick Gleeson
P.E. teacher Rick loves taking BMF classes and after many years serving in the Royal Corps of Engineers Rick is an accomplished instructor who has earned the nickname ‘Super-Rick’ for being on the ball and giving members a thoroughly good work out!
Rob Hardman
Also a former Royal Engineer, Rob regularly takes classes at Platt Fields. Rob is currently working towards doing protection work, we wish him all the best.
Steve Heywood
Dual city instructor, Steve takes classes north and south of the country and will soon retire from the Royal Engineers to pursue a career in civilian fitness. Steve can be seen taking the greens at Sale and Heaton, blink and you’ll miss them!
Scott Lamont
Warrant Officer Scott is still a serving soldier within HM Forces. Always keeping in shape either playing football or taking classes at Heaton Park, Scott is our cheeky Scotsman who will keep you smiling for the full duration of your class! Get down to one of his classes when you can, he is being relocated by the army soon!
Tony Lea
Tony is a great instructor and extreme fitness fanatic who loves nothing more than running, cycling, weight training and going to the gym. In his spare time, Tony likes to keep fit and take brilliant classes all over Manchester. You know you're in good hands when you do one of his classes!
Colin Southern
Another ex-engineer, Colin is a dedicated family man who currently takes classes in Bolton and hopefully this summer also Wigan!
Chris Tetlow
Chris served with the Royal Engineers before completeing a degree in engineering and is now an instructor in North Manchester and Bolton. Chris enjoys all forms of sports and regularly plays football.
Glen Williams
An ex-pro boxer, Glen retains his fitness taking classes in South Manchester. Glen served with Airbourne TA unit and is soon returning to classes.
